The Soul Salmon
Gallery VII: Governor Locke
All photos, unless stated
otherwise, are © Sara Mall Johani. Please feel free
to use them and please credit the photographer whenever
you do.
Soul Salmon has engaged hundreds of Washington residents
to help present a gift to Governor Locke. Here are some
photos of the process and the "signing" of the
male Soul Salmon at the Puyallup Fair in 2001.

Fish" to be presented to Governor Locke.

This how the color appeared after the choosing process.

to embellish.

Starting to "sign" the Peoples' Salmon at the
Puyallup Fair, 2001
The Salmon Signing booth was packed all day.
After signing the fish itself, people also pressed their
thumbs to a scrolled Declaration of Generosity that will
also be presented to Governor Locke. It states that we will
try to emulate the salmon - the most generous creature who
feeds 150 other beings of the watersheds, including ourselves.

Here is the Peoples' Salmon after the first stage of signing
by hundreds of people. There will be more. We are all Salmon
People in the Pacific Northwest.
